Comparing senior living with more help at home

Start with the person, then build the plan.

Compare two complete plans. Staying home may require transportation, meals, household help, and a schedule of reliable support. A community plan also needs a clear list of included services and remaining gaps.

What to clarify

Avoid comparing a community's full monthly quote with only the mortgage or rent at home. Include the tasks family currently supplies and the backup arrangement if that person is unavailable.

A practical next step

Sketch one ordinary week under each option. Mark who handles every essential task and identify the hours that are still uncovered. Homeward is Cardinal's separate aging-at-home path.

Questions to take with you

  • What does each plan actually include?
  • Who covers evenings and missed visits?
  • Which arrangement fits the person's priorities?

Turn answers into a next step

After your conversation, record what was confirmed, what still needs an answer, and who will follow up. Keep sensitive records in the appropriate private channel. These planning questions help organize a conversation; they do not replace a provider assessment or professional advice.
